Position Overview

The Senior Consultant acts as the primary liaison for client engagements, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and service delivery. This role involves strategic oversight of client relationships, project execution, and revenue management. The consultant is expected to manage a portfolio generating at least $1 million in annual revenue, while driving client retention and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead client projects, manage timelines, and facilitate meetings using structured project management methodologies.
  • Ensure adherence to internal standards and processes, including documentation templates and peer reviews.
  • Design and implement employee communication strategies, including open enrollment planning and execution.
  • Build and maintain relationships with insurance carriers and vendors to support client needs across eligibility, claims, billing, and plan administration.
  • Oversee the RFP process for health insurance plans, coordinating with underwriting and account management teams.
  • Review and analyze benefits data, carrier responses, and transparency documentation; maintain organized records.
  • Conduct peer reviews of RFPs, interpret findings, and prepare executive summaries for client presentation.
  • Analyze claims and utilization data to identify trends and prepare customized reporting.
  • Develop client-facing presentations using Excel and PowerPoint to communicate key insights and recommendations.
  • Create benchmarking reports comparing client benefits to industry or regional standards.
  • Evaluate plan designs and model cost comparisons between current and alternative options.
  • Project employee contributions for future plan years based on client cost-sharing objectives.
  • Review vendor contracts, plan documents, and employee materials for accuracy and compliance.
  • Demonstrate strong consulting and project management capabilities.
  • Produce employee communication materials such as benefit guides, enrollment presentations, and internal memos.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements.
  • Support additional projects and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Active Life Accident & Health License in the state of residence is required.
  • Advanced industry certifications (e.g., CEBS, CBP) are strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in account management within the insurance or employee benefits sector.
  • Deep understanding of group health benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and related coverage.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements including HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, and other compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with insurance markets, underwriting practices, and rating methodologies.
  • (California Only) Knowledge of small group regulations and experience working with General Agents.
  • (California Only) Understanding of Risk Adjustment Factors and rate development processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with clients, carriers, and internal teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for client site visits.
