Director - Performance Improvement (FP&A)

We are partnering with a high-growth advisory firm seeking a Director to lead client engagements focused on finance transformation, performance improvement, and strategic advisory. This individual will serve as a senior client-facing leader, responsible for shaping financial strategy, overseeing delivery teams, and driving measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, translating business needs into actionable financial strategies
  • Identify opportunities to expand engagements and deepen client relationships
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to drive transformation and performance improvement initiatives

Analytics & Insights

  • Lead data collection efforts, including designing templates, conducting stakeholder interviews, and synthesizing findings
  • Build and oversee financial and operational models to support strategic decision-making
  • Develop hypotheses, perform benchmarking, and deliver actionable insights
  • Create and present executive-level materials communicating findings and recommendations

Finance Transformation & Process Improvement

  • Lead end-to-end process redesign initiatives across core finance functions (Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report, FP&A, Treasury)
  • Drive broader transformation efforts including operating model design, shared services, outsourcing, and post-M&A integration
  • Oversee implementation of scalable solutions that enhance efficiency, visibility, and performance

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor consulting teams, ensuring high-quality delivery across engagements
  • Provide guidance on analysis, process design, and risk mitigation
  • Support team development, staffing, and performance management

Practice Development

  • Contribute to thought leadership, methodologies, and internal intellectual capital
  • Support business development through proposal development and client pursuits

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in consulting and/or industry, with a focus on finance transformation and operational improvement
  • Strong expertise across core finance processes (O2C, P2P, R2R, FP&A, reporting, forecasting)
  • Experience supporting M&A (due diligence, integration, synergy modeling) and operating model design
  • Background in shared services and/or outsourcing strategy is highly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead complex engagements and manage senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated team leadership and mentoring experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required; CPA and/or MBA preferred
