Manager, Risk Assurance
Summary
The Manager of Risk Assurance plays a key role in strengthening the organization's risk and control framework. This position oversees control testing efforts, conducts quality assurance reviews across key risk management processes, and supports the organization's broader risk governance activities. The role requires close coordination with stakeholders across all three lines of defense and a strong ability to promote a disciplined and collaborative risk culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate internal control testing activities, including planning, execution, validation, and documentation of results.
- Partner with Enterprise Risk Management and business units to support control assessments, Line 1 training, and remediation efforts tied to risk and control findings.
- Produce and manage reporting deliverables related to risk assurance activities.
- Perform quarterly quality assurance reviews of risk and control self-assessments.
- Conduct monthly quality assurance checks for issues management processes.
- Support ongoing departmental risk initiatives and special projects as needed.
- Collaborate with senior leaders across the organization to analyze issues and recommend solutions.
- Drive alignment across stakeholders and apply strong judgment in resolving challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in risk management, business administration, finance, information systems, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in risk management, control testing, audit, or a similar function within financial services, technology, or related industries.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the financial services or banking sector.
- Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) in business, computer science, or related fields.
- Familiarity with GRC systems or risk management platforms.
