Job Summary:
The Managing Director position presents a unique opportunity for a senior professional to build and lead a middle market M&A practice within a rapidly growing advisory platform. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on both business development and client delivery, with significant influence on the firm's strategic growth trajectory.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in one or more of the following sectors: Healthcare & Life Sciences, Business Services, Beauty & Wellness, Financial Institutions/FinTech (FIG), Agriculture, Aerospace & Defense, and Chemicals.
This role requires a proven ability to originate and execute complex transactions, cultivate long-term client relationships, and lead high-performing teams in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. The Managing Director will be responsible for driving new business, managing key engagements, and ensuring the highest standards of execution and client impact across all phases of the deal life cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with internal teams to lead the execution of all work-streams required to successfully complete transactions for middle market companies
* Drive new business by cultivating relationships with senior executives, private equity firms, entrepreneurs, lenders, and legal advisors.
* Analyze financial statements, forecasts, and models; conduct in-depth reviews of accounting data and perform due diligence on balance sheets and income statements.
* Develop and deliver high-quality client presentations and reports.
* Lead negotiations, oversee documentation, and support all aspects of transaction execution.
* Promote best practices across the team and lead internal training sessions as needed.
* Spearhead business development initiatives while maintaining strong, ongoing client relationships.
* Contribute to recruiting efforts and broader firm-building activities.
* Help foster a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.
Requirements:
* Holds a bachelor's degree from a leading academic institution.
* Based in or open to relocating to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, or Philadelphia.
* Committed to a collaborative, in-office culture (four days per week) and flexible to travel to client sites as needed.
* Brings over 15+ years of experience in middle market investment banking.
* Possesses (or can obtain within 120 days) FINRA Series 79, 63, and 24 licenses.
* Experienced in advising both privately held and sponsor-backed companies.
* Well-versed in current market dynamics, deal structures, and valuation trends.
* Demonstrates strong project management and client engagement skills, including leading presentations, managing workstreams, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
* Proven ability to originate new business through a robust network of corporate executives, private equity sponsors, legal advisors, and lenders.
* Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented environment.
* Exhibits executive presence and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels-from C-suite to front line teams.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), with a focus on clear, structured, and impactful communication.
* Highly responsive, detail-oriented, and capable of performing under pressure.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional email etiquette.
* Exceptionally organized with a sharp eye for detail.
* Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and a drive to contribute to firm growth.
Compensation:
Base: $300,000
All-In: $1,200,000 to $3,000,000
