Team Lead Accounting
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- German Operations Accounting: Manage accrual calculations, journal entries, and reconciliations for the company's German operations within the timelines set by the Group accounting team.
- Payment and Bank Reconciliations: Handle the creation of payment runs and reconcile local bank accounts.
- Inter-Company Transactions: Collaborate with the Group accounting team to reconcile all inter-company transactions.
- Internal Reporting: Prepare timely, accurate, and complete internal monthly and ad-hoc reports for management and shareholders.
- Financial Statements: Prepare and review financial statements for all German subsidiaries.
- Technical Accounting: Conduct technical accounting analysis of complex issues such as revenue contracts and leases.
- Discrepancy Investigation: Identify and investigate discrepancies or variances in financial data, transactions, and balances. Perform detailed analysis to determine root causes and propose solutions.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with finance and operations teams to resolve reconciliation issues, ensure accurate data flow, and implement corrective actions.
- Reconciliation Reports: Prepare detailed reconciliation reports, highlighting variances and outstanding items. Maintain accurate documentation of reconciliation processes and procedures.
- Compliance and Controls: Ensure adherence to the company's Group accounting processes and policies. Implement internal controls aligned with global requirements and collaborate with the Group accounting team to develop accounting policies for German operations.
- Audit and Tax Compliance: Manage local audit requirements and in-country tax and government compliance.
- Service Provider Oversight: Oversee work done by local service providers related to accounting and tax services.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with the in-country accounting team, Group accounting team, finance, and business units.
- Software Implementation: Participate in the implementation of software applications and processes for both business and accounting functions, including maintaining German GAAP and IFRS reporting in the accounting system.
- Industry Knowledge: Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
Requirements
- Experience: 10 years of proven experience in financial reporting roles, including leadership and management experience, and at least 3 years of professional auditing experience (preferably with one of the Big 4).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements, including German GAAP and IFRS.
- Reconciliation Skills: Proven experience in financial reconciliation or related accounting roles.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills with experience in performance management.
- Technical Proficiency: Efficiency in using software, financial systems, and Excel.
- Initiative and Motivation: Ability to work with a high level of initiative and self-motivation in a fast-paced environment with definitive timelines.
- Analytical Skills: Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills in German and English, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
