Position Summary
This executive-level role will lead the actuarial function focused on pricing strategy and execution for specialty commercial lines. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical pricing expertise, strong market insight, and a proven ability to lead client engagements and high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Specialty Lines Pricing:
Lead the development and refinement of pricing models for specialty commercial lines (e.g., E&S, professional liability, cyber, marine, aviation). Ensure models are technically sound, market-responsive, and aligned with client objectives.Strategic Advisory:
Serve as a senior actuarial advisor to clients on rate adequacy, portfolio optimization, and pricing strategy. Translate complex actuarial insights into actionable business recommendations.Business Development:
Support growth initiatives by leading actuarial components of RFPs, client pitches, and strategic partnerships. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the insurance ecosystem.Leadership & Team Development:
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing actuarial team. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Represent the actuarial function in executive forums and cross-functional initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
- Fellow of the CAS (FCAS) or equivalent actuarial designation
- 15+ years of actuarial experience in P&C insurance, with a strong focus on specialty lines pricing
- Demonstrated success in client-facing or business development roles
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to manage and inspire technical teams
- Deep understanding of specialty markets and regulatory frameworks
- Proficiency in actuarial and modeling tools (e.g., Emblem, R, Python, SQL)
