Underwriting Specialist - Middle Market
Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced underwriter to join our Middle Market team. This company is consistently ranked as one of the best places to work in the entire insurance space, and has a coveted position on the S&P 500 index.
This role focuses on driving profitable growth by underwriting new and renewal accounts, managing broker relationships, and package underwriting in the middle market space.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee a designated book of business, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth.
- Evaluate and underwrite commercial accounts across multiple lines, including General Liability, Property, Auto, Umbrella, and Workers' Compensation.
- Work directly with brokers to structure competitive terms, pricing, and conditions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to secure new business and retain key accounts.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4+ years of Commercial P&C underwriting experience; Middle Market background preferred.
- Strong broker network and established market presence.
- Solid understanding of regional insurance markets, regulations, and competitive dynamics.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field (professional designations like CPCU are a plus).
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and underwriting tools.
