C&I Relationship Manager

Our client, a boutique commercial bank, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Relationship Manager to join their growing Commercial Banking team. This role is focused on originating, structuring, and managing credit relationships with businesses in the Lower Middle Market. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in middle-market lending, particularly in working with sponsors and fund-backed borrowers.

Key Responsibilities:
* Business Development: Proactively source and cultivate new C&I client relationships through networking, referrals, and market outreach in the Greater NYC area.
* Credit Structuring: Analyze financial statements, assess credit risk, and structure financing solutions including term loans, lines of credit, and specialized lending products.
* Specialized Lending: Identify and execute opportunities in sponsor finance, with a strong understanding of credit underwriting.
* Portfolio Management: Maintain a high-quality loan portfolio, ensuring adherence to internal credit policies and regulatory standards.
* Client Advisory: Act as a trusted advisor, delivering tailored financial solutions and cross-selling treasury, deposit, and cash management services.
* Collaboration: Partner with the Portfolio Management team and senior leadership to ensure timely and sound credit decisions.
* Market Intelligence: Stay current on industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory developments impacting commercial lending.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree or formal credit training preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or middle-market banking, with a focus on C&I lending.
* Proven track record in managing credit relationships and structuring complex transactions.
* Strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of credit risk and financial modeling.
* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Self-starter with a client-centric approach and strong business acumen.
