A high-growth, private equity-backed consumer brand is seeking a Chief Accounting Officer to lead and scale its accounting and financial reporting function during a period of significant expansion. This executive will serve as a key member of the finance leadership team, partnering closely with the CFO and executive leadership to support continued growth, operational excellence, and strategic initiatives.
The Chief Accounting Officer will be responsible for the overall accounting organization, including financial reporting, technical accounting, internal controls, compliance, treasury oversight, and accounting operations. This role offers the opportunity to build and enhance processes, develop a best-in-class team, and help position the organization for its next stage of growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting, financial reporting, and controllership functions
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
- Oversee technical accounting, policies, and GAAP compliance
- Drive internal controls, process improvements, and scalability initiatives
- Partner with executive leadership on strategic growth initiatives
- Lead external audit, tax, and banking relationships
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting organization
- Support M&A activity, integrations, and complex business transactions as needed
Ideal Background
- CPA required
- 15+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience
- Experience in high-growth, multi-location, or consumer-facing businesses
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Demonstrated success building scalable accounting infrastructure
- Prior experience leading large teams and partnering with executive leadership
- Public accounting foundation strongly preferred
