Senior Actuarial Analyst - Financial Reporting & Standards
Position Overview:
This role involves advanced actuarial support focused on financial reporting under international accounting standards. The individual will contribute to the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of actuarial frameworks and methodologies aligned with evolving regulatory requirements. The position may also provide cross-functional support across various lines of business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver actuarial analysis and technical input for financial reporting under international standards (e.g., IFRS 17).
- Collaborate on the design and documentation of actuarial models and data processes to support regulatory compliance.
- Assist in the development and execution of internal controls, audits, and quality assurance procedures related to financial reporting.
- Support project teams in meeting deadlines and achieving implementation milestones.
- Provide periodic updates to leadership on project status and regulatory developments.
- Apply deep knowledge of insurance operations, actuarial principles, and industry data sources to inform decision-making.
- May oversee or review the work of junior actuarial staff.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to address strategic initiatives, market trends, and regulatory changes.
- Prepare analytical reports for senior leadership on profitability, market dynamics, and financial performance.
- Maintain and enhance actuarial models and ensure documentation aligns with professional standards.
- Participate in strategic planning and cross-departmental initiatives as needed.
- Respond to internal and external data requests, including those from auditors and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or economics.
- Associate or Fellow designation from a recognized actuarial organization (e.g., CAS).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pricing or reserving within commercial insurance or reinsurance.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and actuarial software tools.
