Responsibilities
- Oversee accounting activities tied to government contracts, ensuring financial information is accurate and properly supported.
- Develop and maintain forward pricing rate proposals and annual incurred cost submissions, with ownership varying based on experience level.
- Review direct and indirect cost structures, allocation methods, and rate activity, identifying changes that may require updated disclosures or government review.
- Maintain compliance with FAR, CAS, and other federal contracting requirements across costing, reporting, and related accounting processes.
- Support the financial administration of government programs by analyzing contract costs, expenses, budgets, and forecasts.
- Serve as a key point of contact for government and compliance-related audits, coordinating documentation and addressing financial or cost-accounting inquiries.
- Partner with finance, accounting, and operational teams to resolve reporting discrepancies and strengthen government accounting processes.
- Provide guidance to junior team members and contribute to broader accounting initiatives as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, with Finance or a closely related discipline also considered.
- Strong understanding of government contract accounting and federal cost principles, particularly FAR and CAS.
- Experience working with cost accounting, indirect rates, cost allocations, and financial reporting in a government contracting environment.
- Familiarity with forward pricing rates, incurred cost reporting, and government audit requirements.
- Ability to interpret financial data, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
- Experience preparing or reviewing budgets, forecasts, contract costs, and related financial analysis.
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting, ERP, or other financial systems.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Senior-level candidates should demonstrate the ability to independently manage complex government accounting deliverables, lead audit activity, and provide guidance to less-experienced team members.
- Must meet applicable U.S. person/export-control eligibility requirements associated with ITAR and EAR-regulated information.
