About the Opportunity
A rapidly growing insurance platform is seeking an experienced insurance professional to lead the development and expansion of specialty Property & Casualty programs. This is a unique opportunity to build and scale profitable insurance programs from the ground up while partnering with carrier markets, distribution partners, and executive leadership.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in specialty P&C underwriting, program management, product development, and carrier relations. This individual will play a critical role in shaping underwriting strategy, identifying new market opportunities, and driving profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of new specialty P&C insurance programs
- Identify target industries, classes of business, and market opportunities for program expansion
- Build and maintain relationships with carrier partners, reinsurers, brokers, and distribution channels
- Develop underwriting guidelines, pricing strategies, and portfolio management frameworks
- Evaluate program performance and profitability through data analysis and portfolio reviews
- Collaborate with actuarial, claims, compliance, operations, and executive leadership teams
- Negotiate carrier and reinsurance agreements to support program growth initiatives
- Recruit, mentor, and develop underwriting and program management talent as needed
- Drive strategic initiatives that support long term growth and scalability
Qualifications
- 7+ years of Property & Casualty insurance experience
- Demonstrated experience building, managing, or scaling specialty insurance programs
- Strong understanding of underwriting, program management, carrier relationships, and distribution strategies
- Experience within a carrier, MGA, MGU, program administrator, or specialty insurance platform
- Proven ability to evaluate profitability and manage portfolio performance
- Strong business development and relationship management skills
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic planning abilities
- Bachelor's degree preferred; CPCU or other industry designations are a plus
Preferred Background
- Experience launching new insurance products or program business
- Existing relationships with carrier markets and reinsurance partners
- Background in E&S, specialty commercial lines, niche program business, or delegated authority underwriting
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of driving growth and innovation
