Lead Financials Portfolio Manager - L/S Equity
We are working with a growing hedge fund looking to hire a Lead Financials Portfolio Manager for its London team.
This will be the lead seat for Financials, covering opportunities across both the European and US markets. The portfolio is likely to have a particular focus on banks, although the firm is open to candidates with broader experience across diversified financials.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the sector, managing a fundamental long/short portfolio and setting the direction for Financials coverage across the platform. There is meaningful capital available from the outset, with the opportunity to increase the allocation and build a team as the strategy develops.
The opportunity
- Lead the firm's Financials coverage across Europe and the US
- Manage a fundamental equity long/short portfolio
- Generate high-conviction ideas across both the long and short books
- Take ownership of portfolio construction, position sizing and risk
- Define the research priorities and investment approach for the sector
- Grow the allocation and build out a dedicated team over time
- Become the firm's recognised lead investor for Financials
The profile
- Strong track record investing across Financials.
- Experience analysing companies across both European and US markets
- Existing Portfolio Manager or Sub-PM with responsibility for capital and risk
- Strong fundamental research and stock-selection skills
- Proven ability to identify opportunities on both the long and short side
- A clear and repeatable investment process
- Good understanding of portfolio construction, factor exposures and drawdown management
- Interest in building a long-term Financials franchise within a growing platform
