Credit Risk - Leveraged Finance

Join a leading international banking institution and play a key role in shaping credit decisions across complex corporate, structured, and leveraged finance transactions. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders, front-office teams, and risk leadership while influencing risk appetite, portfolio strategy, and transaction approvals across a diverse portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed credit and rating analysis across corporate, structured, and leveraged finance transactions, including the preparation of credit papers, rating assessments, and peer/comparative analysis.
  • Assess and challenge credit proposals, identifying key risks and providing balanced recommendations that consider risk, return, and capital efficiency.
  • Partner closely with Relationship Managers, Sector Leads, Product Teams, and other first line stakeholders as a trusted credit advisor.
  • Deliver high-quality written and verbal credit opinions to senior management and credit committees.
  • Collaborate with front-office teams on both transaction-specific opportunities and broader strategic initiatives, ensuring adherence to internal policies and risk standards.
  • Act as a key credit counterpart across regional and international credit teams, promoting a collaborative "one team" approach.
  • Support the ongoing development of credit risk frameworks, including risk appetite, portfolio monitoring, stress testing, and early warning indicators.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of credit policies, governance standards, and portfolio management practices.
  • Maintain awareness of market developments, sector trends, regulatory changes, and evolving financing structures to proactively identify emerging risks.
  • Mentor junior team members and share technical expertise across assigned sectors and products.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support business growth while maintaining robust risk management standards.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects, committees, and strategic initiatives, providing specialist credit risk expertise.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience within financial services, with a strong background in corporate credit risk, structured finance, and/or leveraged finance.
  • Proven experience assessing and approving complex corporate and structured credit transactions.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements governing credit approval, monitoring, and risk management processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of corporate, structured finance, and leveraged finance structures, including familiarity with LMA documentation.
  • Deep understanding of credit risk principles, financial products, derivatives, and risk management frameworks.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with excellent numerical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and challenge senior decision-makers constructively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across credit, front-office, and senior management teams in a fast-paced environment.
