The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced C++ Software Engineer to join their team in Amsterdam.

This team is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the firm's global low-latency trading platform. The role sits at the heart of the technology stack and offers exposure to critical systems including:

  • Order routing
  • Market data infrastructure
  • Risk management systems
  • High-performance distributed services
  • Core trading platform components

This is an opportunity to work on complex engineering challenges where performance, reliability, and scalability are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-performance C++ applications.
  • Build and maintain low-latency infrastructure supporting global trading operations.
  • Develop and enhance systems related to market data, order management, and risk.
  • Optimise applications for latency, throughput, and resource efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues across Linux-based environments.
  • Work closely with infrastructure engineers, researchers, and quantitative teams.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term platform strategy.

Requirements

Essential

  • 5+ years of commercial experience developing high-availability systems in C++.

  • Strong experience working in environments with strict performance and latency requirements.

  • Solid understanding of:

    • Multi-threaded programming
    • Concurrency
    • Hardware/software interaction
    • Memory management
    • Network programming
  • Strong Linux troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.

  • Experience optimising applications, socket I/O, and system performance.

  • Proficiency with modern C++ and libraries such as STL and Boost.

  • Strong knowledge of C++20/C++23 standards and modern development practices.

  • Experience delivering technically challenging projects involving real-time data processing or complex system design.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
