Consumer Analyst | Long-bias Hedge Fund
Selby Jennings has partnered with a Hong Kong-based long-bias investment firm managing over USD 1 billion in assets, seeking to add a Consumer Equity Analyst to its investment team.
This is an opportunity to join a high-performing fundamental investment platform with a long-term track record of investing across Asian and global equities. The successful candidate will take ownership of investment research within the Consumer sector, generating differentiated ideas and working closely with the CIO to drive portfolio performance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental equity research across the Consumer sector, covering both Consumer Staples and Discretionary companies
- Develop differentiated investment theses and generate actionable investment ideas
- Build and maintain detailed financial models and industry analyses
- Conduct management meetings, channel checks, and primary research to support investment recommendations
- Monitor earnings, industry developments, competitive dynamics, and consumer trends
- Present investment recommendations directly to CIO and collaborate with the broader investment team
- Contribute to portfolio monitoring, risk assessment, and ongoing position management
Requirements
- Roughly 5+ years of relevant buyside investment experience preferred, though outstanding candidates at other levels will also be considered
- Prior coverage experience within the Consumer sector, including Consumer Staples and/or Consumer Discretionary
- Ability to independently originate, research, and drive investment ideas from inception through portfolio implementation
- Long/short investing experience is highly advantageous
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, and fundamental research capabilities
- Proven ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within an investment team
- China or Global Consumer coverage experience will be considered
- Fluency in English and Chinese would be viewed favourably
