Quant Trader (Environmental Commodities)
We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially driven Quant Trader to join our growing trading team in Amsterdam. This role is ideal for an experienced trader with a proven track record of generating alpha through proprietary trading strategies within environmental commodity markets.
You will be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing quantitative trading opportunities across a range of environmental products, leveraging data, market fundamentals, and systematic research to drive profitable trading decisions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute proprietary quantitative trading strategies across environmental commodity markets.
- Analyze market dynamics, price relationships, and trading opportunities across products such as Guarantees of Origin (GoOs), Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), carbon allowances, and other environmental instruments.
- Build and enhance quantitative models to identify market inefficiencies and generate trading signals.
- Monitor market exposures, manage risk, and optimize portfolio performance.
- Utilize statistical techniques, machine learning, and data analysis to improve trading strategies.
- Collaborate closely with traders, analysts, and technology teams to enhance trading infrastructure and execution capabilities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Proprietary Trader, Quant Trader, Commodity Trader, or Portfolio Trader.
- Demonstrated track record of generating P&L in environmental commodity markets.
- Strong understanding of products such as:
- Guarantees of Origin (GoOs)
- Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
- EU Emissions Allowances (EUAs)
- Carbon Credits
- Renewable Power Markets
- Experience developing and implementing quantitative or systematic trading strategies.
- Strong programming and data analysis skills, ideally in Python.
- Excellent understanding of risk management and portfolio construction.
- Strong quantitative background in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Ability to make high-conviction trading decisions in fast-moving markets.
Nice to Have
- Experience trading across multiple environmental and energy-related products.
- Exposure to power, gas, renewable energy, or carbon markets.
- Experience applying machine learning or advanced statistical techniques to trading strategies.
- Previous experience within proprietary trading firms, commodity trading houses, utilities, or environmental trading specialists.
