Servicing Accounting Associate

Selby Jennings is partnered with one of the largest publicly traded mortgage REITs in the US. This firm specializes in real estate finance, investing primarily in mortgage-related assets. The firm is looking to bring on a Servicing Accountant at their Associate level to support the Residential-Credit & Mortgage Servicing Rights business units. Responsibilities:

• Review and validate monthly invoices and cash settlements from third-party mortgage servicers, including servicing fees, advances, and principal & interest transactions.
• Reconcile remittance data from servicers to internal systems and external investor platforms, identifying and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Partner with accounting and oversight teams to review reconciliations related to corporate and escrow advances.
• Collaborate with trading, credit, and servicing oversight teams to ensure data accuracy and develop internal controls and reconciliation processes.
• Manage daily operational workflows within proprietary systems, including loan onboarding, servicer setup, and transaction reconciliation (e.g., purchases, sales, and repurchases).
• Identify and troubleshoot data quality issues, working with technical teams to implement solutions.
• Support servicing oversight efforts, including contract reviews and operational control assessments.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation, performing analyses, and providing operational support.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in Investor Reporting, Investor Accounting or Servicing Accounting
• Strong reconciliation and research skills with an ability to problem solve & be adaptable
• Expert Excel skills, including ability to utilize vlookup, index, match, sumproduct, and pivot tables
• Proficiency in SQL highly desired
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously and work in a time-sensitive deadline driven environment
• Mortgage servicing platform experience a strong plus
