(Senior) Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Netherlands (Hybrid)

A fast‑growing firm operating in the energy trading sector is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen its technology team. The company works with a wide range of energy‑related products in highly competitive markets, relying heavily on advanced, high‑availability IT systems to support real‑time decision‑making. To keep these systems running at peak performance, we are looking for a proactive, motivated professional to join our infrastructure department.

THE OPPORTUNITY

In this environment, technology is at the heart of the business. The trading floor operates with a large number of high‑end workstations, numerous data sources, and custom‑built dashboards that provide traders with the insights they need in rapidly changing market conditions.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all systems-hardware, software, and networks-operate smoothly and reliably. You will be the first point of action when issues arise and will work closely with technical teams to maintain a robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure.

YOUR ROLE

You will design, manage, and optimize a hybrid infrastructure environment that supports mission‑critical trading applications and data pipelines. Your focus will be on performance, automation, reliability, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain a hybrid infrastructure combining cloud (Azure) and on‑premise environments.
• Build and maintain automation workflows using Ansible to streamline deployments and updates.
• Implement and manage infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform.
• Manage and optimize containerized workloads using AKS and Docker.
• Oversee backup, replication, and disaster‑recovery processes, with a focus on Veeam technologies.
• Monitor system health, performance, and availability using PRTG and other monitoring tools.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure compliance, scalability, and infrastructure best practices.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive long‑term reliability.
• Maintain clear documentation of configurations, architecture, and operational procedures.

Energy markets operate 24/7, and trading decisions depend on large volumes of real‑time data. The systems you support are pushed to their limits. Your mission is to maintain a fast, highly reliable, and secure infrastructure environment capable of supporting advanced trading applications and high‑throughput data pipelines.

WHAT WE ASK

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or System Engineer.
• Proven experience with mission‑critical, high‑availability infrastructure.
• Strong background in Microsoft technologies and enterprise‑scale environments.
• Hands‑on experience with virtualization (preferably Hyper‑V).
• Solid understanding of hybrid cloud infrastructure and networking fundamentals.
• Proficiency with both Windows and Linux in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of backup strategies, disaster recovery, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with automation, IaC, and DevOps concepts (Terraform and Ansible preferred).

WHAT WE LIKE

• Experience with identity and access management solutions (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID), including Conditional Access and hybrid identity.
• Strong understanding of enterprise Windows environments, Office 365, Active Directory, DNS.
• Experience with security hardening, auditing, and remediation from penetration tests.
• Knowledge of infrastructure security concepts such as IAM, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with incident response and IT governance.
• Background working in Agile teams.
