Senior Accountant

Client / Job Summary

Our client, a growing mid sized construction firm in Sterling, MA, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to lead its accounting operations. This role is ideal for someone with hands on experience in construction accounting software and a solid understanding of industry practices. The position offers full ownership of financial operations including AP, AR, payroll, and reporting, alongside strategic planning and process improvement. The company is completing its transition to Foundation Software, so you will step into a fully implemented system with the opportunity to optimize workflows and enhance financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead daily accounting functions including AP/AR, payroll, and financial reporting
• Optimize workflows within Foundation Software to support multiple trades and complex project types
• Partner with project managers and field teams to ensure accurate job costing and budget oversight
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to leadership
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning initiatives
• Monitor compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards
• Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and consultants

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with construction accounting platforms is a plus (eg; Foundation, Procore, Sage)
• Understanding of construction industry accounting practices and job costing
• Proven ability to manage financial operations with minimal oversight
• Strong communication and organizational skills, with a strategic mindset
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
