Risk Manager | Quantitative hedge fund
We are working with a growing investment platform looking to hire a Risk Manager to join their Hong Kong team. This is a high impact role sitting close to the investment desk, with exposure across both portfolio and operational risk.
The position will suit someone who enjoys working in a fast moving environment and wants strong visibility with senior stakeholders across the business.
What does the role involve?
You will work closely with investment teams and take ownership of both investment and operational risk across the platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain and enhance the firm's overall risk framework and policies
- Monitor daily trading activity and investment risk exposures, ensuring all limits are adhered to
- Review and recommend appropriate risk limits across different strategies
- Track and investigate any breaches, ensuring timely resolution and escalation
- Analyse portfolio risk across funds and managed accounts, including consistency of risk positioning
- Monitor counterparty exposure and contribute to improvements in credit risk oversight
- Carry out regular and ad hoc reviews across areas such as execution quality, trading costs and service providers
- Prepare risk reporting for senior stakeholders, including the risk committee, with clear and actionable insights
- Support regulatory reporting requirements linked to trading activities
- Conduct operational risk assessments and contribute to ongoing process improvements
- Build strong relationships across the business including investment, operations and external partners
- Promote a strong risk culture across the organisation
What experience do you need?
- Around 7+ years of experience within risk, ideally in asset management, hedge funds, or investment related businesses
- Solid understanding of risk frameworks and controls within an investment environment
- Exposure to trading activities, investment products, or portfolio risk is preferred
- Strong numerical skills with the ability to analyse and interpret data effectively
- Comfortable working with large datasets and building risk reporting
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both internally and externally
