Overview

The Physical Crude Trading team in Geneva plays a central role in a global oil business. The team is active across international physical and financial crude markets, trading a wide variety of crude oil grades and contracts. The environment is collaborative and entrepreneurial, using fundamental, quantitative, and technical analysis to identify trading opportunities and deliver consistent performance. The focus is on generating strong risk-adjusted returns and expanding market presence.

Role Summary

As a Crude Oil Trader, you will be part of a dynamic trading team, proactively identifying and capitalising on opportunities to grow the business. You will execute and manage physical crude oil trades, overseeing transactions from origination through to delivery. Relationship-building with producers, refiners, shipping partners, and other market participants is key. You will analyse market trends, price movements, and supply and demand fundamentals across Europe, the Middle East, and West Africa.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 5 year's experience trading crude oil with a proven track record of profitability
  • Deep understanding of physical and financial crude oil markets in Europe, the Middle East, and West Africa
  • Strong entrepreneurial drive with the ability to independently source and close new deals
  • Demonstrated success in high-pressure trading environments and collaborative team settings
  • Excellent analytic, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Established network within the crude oil trading community
  • Fluent in English; additional languages (e.g., French) are a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel and market platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters)
  • Programming skills are desirable
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across the market
