CLO Trader - VP/D

A leading European investment bank is seeking an experienced CLO Trader to join its London-based Structured Credit Trading team at Vice President or Director level. This is a high-profile opportunity to take ownership of CLO secondary trading activity across a well-established platform with strong institutional client relationships and significant balance sheet commitment to structured credit markets.

The successful candidate will play a key role in market-making, risk management, and franchise development across the CLO space, working closely with sales, syndicate, structuring, financing, and origination teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and actively trade a portfolio of CLO positions across primary and secondary markets.
• Provide liquidity and pricing to institutional investors across CLO debt and related structured credit products.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key buy-side clients including asset managers, hedge funds, insurance companies, and alternative credit investors.
• Generate trade ideas and relative value opportunities across the CLO capital structure.
• Monitor market developments, collateral performance, and technical drivers impacting CLO valuations.
• Work closely with syndicate and origination teams on new issue transactions and distribution strategies.
• Collaborate with quantitative, risk, and research teams to enhance pricing frameworks and risk analytics.
• Contribute to the strategic growth of the bank's structured credit franchise across Europe and internationally.
• Ensure all trading activity is conducted within approved risk, regulatory, and compliance frameworks.

Requirements

• Significant experience trading CLOs, structured credit, leveraged finance products, or related securitized markets.
• Strong understanding of CLO structures, documentation, cashflow mechanics, and valuation methodologies.
• Demonstrated risk-taking ability and track record of generating P&L within a market-making or proprietary trading environment.
• Established network of institutional investor relationships across CLO and structured credit markets.
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative trading floor environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Background

• Experience within a bank, broker-dealer, asset manager, hedge fund, or specialist structured credit platform.
• Knowledge of European and/or US CLO markets.
• Familiarity with leveraged loans, ABS, securitizations, or broader structured finance products.
• VP candidates should demonstrate consistent trading performance and client engagement.
• Director candidates should bring a proven track record of franchise development and revenue generation.
