About the Role:
Our client, a respected name in the insurance industry, is seeking an experienced Actuary to lead reserving efforts for their Asbestos & Environmental (A&E) lines. This is a high-impact role that will focus on long-tail liability exposures, requiring deep analytical expertise and a strong understanding of complex claims development patterns.
This position offers the flexibility of a fully remote work environment, while still providing opportunities for collaboration and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the reserving process for A&E liabilities, including quarterly reserve reviews and long-term projections.
- Analyze historical claims data and trends to support reserve adequacy and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with claims, finance, and senior leadership to communicate reserve estimates and assumptions.
- Support actuarial opinions, regulatory filings, and internal audits.
- Develop and refine models to evaluate uncertainty and tail risk in legacy liabilities.
- Stay current on industry trends, legal developments, and regulatory changes affecting A&E exposures.
Qualifications:
- ACAS or FCAS designation required.
- 5+ years of actuarial experience, with a strong background in reserving.
- Prior experience with asbestos, environmental, or other long-tail liability lines is highly preferred.
- Strong technical skills in Excel, SQL, and actuarial reserving software (e.g., ResQ, Arius).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex findings to non-actuarial stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote setting.
