Actuary
Selby Jennings is proud to partner with a dynamic and rapidly growing health plan in the search for their first in-house actuary. This is a unique opportunity to build an actuarial function from the ground up while making a strategic impact across the organization. This position will report directly to the CFO and play a key role in supporting all lines of business, including Medicare, Exchange, and Supplemental plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct rate analysis and monitor MLR trends to drive pricing and profitability strategies.
Lead financial forecasting, reserving, and IBNR development across business segments.
Provide bid development support and actuarial insight for government and commercial plan submissions.
Perform advanced actuarial modeling and data analysis to identify risks and growth opportunities.
Deliver actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
4+ years of health actuarial experience, ideally within a managed care
Proven expertise in reserving methodologies and IBNR calculations.
Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence non-technical stakeholders
