Our client is a leading re/insurance intermediary and corporate advisor/broker dealer, offering bespoke and innovative capital, risk, and program solutions.
The primary responsibilities of the VP, Actuary include
- Pricing reinsurance contracts across varying insurance coverages and products and providing clients with continuous support throughout the (re)insurance lifecycle.
- Clients include growing numbers of traditional carriers and MGAs, single-state and regional mutuals, innovative Insurtechs, and multi-national specialty carriers.
- Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Perform gross, ceded, and net loss ratio reviews for proportional, excess of loss, and structured reinsurance deals.
- Understand client data and respond to technical queries regarding data, trends, or results from studies.
- Support brokers in creating reinsurance submissions, pricing and placing reinsurance, and evaluating new opportunities or partnerships.
- Develop stochastic models and perform reinsurance analyses to evaluate and compare different reinsurance strategies and pricing to meet client objectives.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or higher degree, preferably with an actuarial science and/or STEM major
- In-depth actuarial experience, preferably in a reinsurance pricing capacity and FCAS designation
- Strong understanding of standardized pricing and reserving methodologies for both casualty and property lines
- Experience with catastrophe modelling (RMS, AIR, etc.) and pricing approaches a plus
- Experience with personal and commercial lines insurance product development
- Familiarity in programming using R, Python, or other comparable language
