Key Responsibilities
- Risk Assessment: Analyzing market data, supply and demand dynamics, geopolitical factors, and other relevant information to assess and quantify potential risks to our crude oil trading operations.
- Develop Risk Management Strategies: Collaborate with the trading team to develop and implement effective risk management strategies, including hedging and risk mitigation techniques.
- Market Analysis: Monitoring and interpreting market trends, price movements, and regulatory changes to anticipate potential risks and identify opportunities.
- Reporting: Preparing and presenting risk analysis reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations to optimize decision-making.
- Modeling and Forecasting: Utilizing sophisticated risk modeling tools and techniques to forecast potential scenarios and evaluate the impact on our business.
- Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and internal risk management policies.
- Communication: Coordinating with various internal teams, external partners, and industry experts to gather and exchange valuable market intelligence.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role within the commodities trading industry, with a focus on power and/or natural gas markets.
- Strong understanding of power and/or natural gas trading operations, trade lifecycle, and associated documentation.
- Proficiency in trade capture systems and trade processing tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical skills SQL, Python, VBA, etc. are highly desired
