A well-established reinsurance company is looking for an experienced AVP, Valuation Actuary to lead their actuarial valuation and risk management functions. This role involves overseeing key processes such as financial reporting, asset liability management (ALM), actuarial modeling, quality assurance, and process transformation. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of valuation practices across various product lines, strong communication skills for interacting with auditors and regulators, and demonstrated leadership in team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead valuation, financial planning, and analysis across various product lines, such as pensions, annuities, segregated funds, participating life insurance, universal life, term life, and health products.
- Manage the annual assumption-setting process and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Simplify and clarify communication channels to eliminate confusion and ensure all requirements are met efficiently.
- Oversee the implementation of risk management frameworks, including ALM oversight and the application of CALM methodologies. Ensure accurate and effective risk assessment and mitigation strategies are in place.
- Mentor, develop, and lead a team of actuarial professionals to build a results-oriented, agile, and high-performing group.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related field; FSA or FCIA designation preferred.
- Extensive experience in actuarial valuation, risk management, and financial planning, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Strong knowledge of insurance product lines, including pensions, annuities, segregated funds, and life and health products.
- Proven ability to work effectively with auditors and regulators, simplifying complex information for clear communication.
