Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President, Brokerage to lead their Employee Benefits service organization across the West Region. This fully remote role serves as a senior leader within a rapidly growing, tech‑enabled insurance brokerage known for innovation, operational excellence, and a modern approach to benefits consulting.
The VP will oversee regional service delivery, lead and mentor account management teams, elevate client experience, drive process improvement, and partner closely with executive leadership to scale operations. This position is ideal for a seasoned people‑leader with deep Employee Benefits expertise, strong operational acumen, and a passion for transforming how brokerage services are delivered.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, develop, and mentor a high‑performing Employee Benefits service team across multiple states within the West Region.
- Provide strategic oversight for Account Managers, Account Executives, and service staff, ensuring excellence in client delivery, renewal execution, and operational standards.
- Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support workforce planning, hiring decisions, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
Operational Excellence & Process Optimization
- Oversee the execution of service workflows, ensuring consistent, high‑quality delivery across all client touchpoints.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance scalability using technology and automation.
- Partner with internal product and technology teams to provide insights that inform platform enhancements.
- Monitor KPIs, service SLAs, productivity metrics, and client satisfaction to guide operational decisions.
Client Experience & Retention
- Serve as an executive sponsor for large and strategic Employee Benefits clients in the region.
- Support escalations, high‑visibility client initiatives, and complex issue resolution.
- Ensure consistency in service standards, renewal strategy execution, compliance adherence, and market placement.
- Collaborate with sales and leadership to maintain strong retention and organic growth.
Strategic Initiatives & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Contribute to national brokerage strategy and operational roadmaps.
- Drive adoption of new technologies, tools, and platforms within the West Region.
- Partner with Sales Leadership on regional growth priorities and cross‑selling opportunities.
- Work closely with Product, Compliance, Marketing, and Data/Analytics teams to ensure alignment across the organization.
Change Management & Innovation
- Champion the firm's tech‑enabled model, guiding teams through digital transformation and new workflow adoption.
- Evaluate industry trends, market dynamics, and legislative changes to guide operational strategy.
- Introduce best practices that enhance efficiency, service quality, and client engagement.
Required Qualifications
- 10-15+ years of experience in Employee Benefits consulting, brokerage, or carrier environments.
- Significant experience managing people and leading multi‑state or regional service teams.
- Deep knowledge of medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, compliance regulations, and EB funding strategies.
- Strong operational leadership background, preferably within a scaling or tech‑enabled environment.
- Proven ability to influence at all levels, manage complex client situations, and drive meaningful organizational change.
- Excellent communication, executive presence, and strategic thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a digital or technology‑forward brokerage environment.
- Background in process improvement, operational transformation, or customer success leadership.
- Understanding of benefits technology platforms, automation tools, CRM/AMS systems, and data workflows.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional certifications (CEBS, GBA, etc.) a plus.
