Underwriting Supervisor
Our client is a national corporation that provides essential administrative and operational services to the automobile insurance residual market. This market ensures that all qualified drivers, including high-risk individuals who may not be able to obtain insurance through the voluntary market, have access to automobile insurance coverage.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Underwriting and Operations Supervisor to lead and manage the daily operations of our client's Personal Auto underwriting unit. This role is critical in ensuring compliance, efficiency, and high-quality service delivery. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, along with a solid background in the automobile insurance industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct the day-to-day operations and staffing of the underwriting unit to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitor underwriting processes for compliance with Plan rules, performance standards, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct self-audits and implement improvements to enhance operational performance.
- Coordinate and implement changes resulting from Plan revisions or procedural updates; train staff accordingly.
- Maintain and build relationships with external customers, producers, and companies.
- Create and manage reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Address complex underwriting issues and inquiries from regulators, insureds, and producers.
- Track productivity and performance metrics; analyze transaction, system, and phone reports.
- Collaborate with programming staff to resolve system issues and oversee enhancements.
- Support management in budget development and implementation of new procedures.
Qualifications:
- 5 years in the automobile insurance industry.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Background in customer service, policy processing, and underwriting is preferred.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to train staff on complex underwriting concepts.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel).
