Actuary - Pricing & Reserving
We're looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Actuary to lead pricing and reserving initiatives across a diverse portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a data-driven environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and is passionate about driving financial performance through actuarial insight.
Key Responsibilities:
Pricing Strategy & Execution:
- Lead the ratemaking process and develop pricing indications to support underwriting profitability.
- Conduct quarterly rate adequacy reviews, internal rate indications, and analysis of internal and external data.
- Support the development and enhancement of pricing tools and methodologies.
Product Development & Regulatory Oversight:
- Collaborate on new product strategies, pricing design, and implementation of rate changes.
- Manage rate filings and regulatory interactions, including preparing documentation and testifying when required.
- Balance competing internal interests related to filings and product development.
Reserving & Financial Analysis:
- Oversee quarterly reserve reviews and monthly IBNR roll-forwards.
- Advance reserving methodologies and tools for improved data capture and analysis.
- Work closely with accounting, external actuaries, and auditors to ensure accurate financial statements and actuarial opinions.
Data Management & Reporting:
- Perform data manipulation, cleansing, validation, and automated reporting.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across actuarial processes.
- Document data sources and calculations for transparency and peer review.
Leadership & Collaboration:
- May manage and mentor actuarial analysts.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other departments.
- Drive process improvements and contribute to strategic initiatives.
Continuous Learning & Innovation:
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging actuarial techniques.
- Proactively revise approaches to improve work products and methodologies.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong background in actuarial pricing and reserving, preferably within P&C insurance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with regulatory filings and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in actuarial software and data tools; automation experience is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.
