SQL Database Administrator

We have a current opportunity for a SQL Database Administrator on a permanent basis. The position will be based in NYC.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business units to design innovative solutions and support new initiatives.
  • Assist with exploring and implementing new database technologies to enhance productivity and efficiency in database-driven applications.
  • Manage and support production, QA, and Dev databases using SQL Server, SSAS Cubes, and other NoSQL databases.
  • Create DBA administration scripts utilizing T-SQL, stored procedures, SSIS packages, and PowerShell.
  • Support the development and automation of reports for business analysis and compliance requirements.
  • Aid in developing ad-hoc SQL queries, stored procedures/views, and optimize them for better performance.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide solutions to improve database reliability and availability.
  • Administer and maintain database schemas using modeling tools and deploy schema changes across Dev, QA, and Production environments while adhering to change control processes.
  • Oversee database security and ensure data safety and integrity.
  • Ensure proper database backups are performed to meet RPO and RTO objectives.
  • Implement and manage data archiving and retention processes.
  • Document the database environment and administration procedures.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting MS SQL Server or other OLTP databases as a DBA.
  • 5+ years of experience with T-SQL or other procedural programming languages.
  • 3+ years of experience with database monitoring tools such as SQL Profiler, Quest, RedGate, Idera, Foglight, PDBA, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience with at least two scripting languages: PowerShell, Python, Shell, Perl.
  • Must have administration experience with SQL Server SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS.
  • Must be familiar with Linux environments and able to use basic Linux commands and an editor.
  • Experience with OLAP and NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Execution Services or Options-related product knowledge is a plus.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and embrace new challenges.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field in Computer Engineering or Science.
