Position Summary
We are seeking an Employee Benefits Account Manager to join our growing team and support a book of small market clients (150 lives and under). This role is responsible for managing day-to-day client service needs, coordinating renewals, assisting with benefit strategy implementation, and serving as a trusted resource to clients throughout the policy year.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of employee benefits experience within an insurance brokerage, strong knowledge of group health and welfare plans, and a client-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of small market employee benefits clients, primarily groups with 150 lives and under.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding employee benefits programs and service needs.
* Coordinate annual renewals, including gathering underwriting information, reviewing carrier proposals, and preparing client presentations.
* Assist clients with medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefit plans.
* Respond to eligibility, enrollment, billing, and claims-related questions.
* Collaborate with producers, account executives, and carrier partners to deliver exceptional client service.
* Support open enrollment meetings and implementation of new benefit plans.
* Ensure accuracy of client records, plan documents, and compliance-related communications.
* Maintain strong relationships with carrier representatives and vendor partners.
* Identify opportunities for additional products and services that may benefit clients.
Qualifications
* 3-5 years of employee benefits experience within an insurance brokerage, consulting firm, carrier, or TPA.
* Experience managing small market employer groups, preferably 150 lives and under.
* Knowledge of group medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefits.
* Strong client service, communication, and organizational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple client relationships and deadlines simultaneously.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and agency management systems.
* Active Life & Health license preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience supporting fully insured, level-funded, and self-funded plans.
* Exposure to carrier negotiations and renewal strategy discussions.
* Familiarity with employee enrollment platforms and benefits administration systems.
