Commercial Lines Underwriter - Remote (Arkansas, Missouri, or Kansas City Metro)
A respected insurance organization is seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter to oversee a high-volume territory with significant underwriting authority. This position offers remote flexibility from Arkansas, Missouri, or the Kansas City Metro area, with occasional travel to support agency relationships and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Select, grow, and maintain a profitable book of business across multiple commercial lines.
Evaluate complex accounts involving diverse operations, multiple lines of business, and specialized pricing requirements.
Analyze exposures, financials, risk appetite, and historical performance to determine appropriate coverage and pricing.
Ensure compliance with underwriting standards through accurate documentation and risk assessment.
Build and strengthen agency relationships through regular communication and strategic visits.
Provide education to agents on products, underwriting appetite, and systems.
Collaborate with marketing and leadership teams on agency planning and performance reviews.
Mentor and guide less experienced underwriters, offering expertise on complex accounts and agency strategies.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in insurance, business administration, or a related field.
Minimum of five years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
Professional designations such as CPCU preferred.
Skills and Competencies
Advanced knowledge of underwriting and risk analysis.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to groups.
