Senior Database Platform Engineer
Job Description The Senior Database Platform Engineer will collaborate within a cross‑functional engineering team to design, build, and enhance modern data platform solutions that support the organization's strategic goals. This role spans multiple technical disciplines and focuses on enabling both business and technology stakeholders to efficiently provision, analyze, and consume data through secure, scalable, and high‑performance database platforms.
Duties & Responsibilities
Designs and automates the provisioning, configuration, monitoring, security, and remediation processes for database platforms.
Applies deep expertise to diagnose and resolve complex issues across diverse database systems.
Defines, implements, and upholds best practices for code quality, deployment, security, architecture, and automation.
Partners with business and technology teams to deliver engineering initiatives and drive successful project outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience engineering database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Snowflake).
10+ years of experience programming in interpreted scripting languages such as Python and/or PowerShell.
7+ years of experience working with cloud data platforms across major cloud providers (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, RDS, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
8+ years of experience using SQL or NoSQL query languages.
8+ years of experience developing with configuration management tools and applying Infrastructure‑as‑Code principles (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell DSC, Puppet, Chef, CloudFormation).
5+ years of experience working with containerized environments.
Expert‑level understanding of database engine internals, infrastructure, and architectural concepts.
Expert knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and SDLC workflows (e.g., JIRA, Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Liquibase, Jenkins, Octopus, DbUp).
Experience with Kafka.
Experience building or integrating with REST APIs and other non‑database interfaces.
Demonstrates strong architectural judgment and a security‑first approach to database platform design.
Brings an engineering‑driven mindset to all aspects of the role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and articulate the value of recommended solutions.
Preferred
Experience with or interest in object‑oriented programming languages (e.g., C#, Java, C++).
