Climate Transition Risk Researcher

About the Role

We're seeking a passionate and forward-thinking researcher to join a innovative climate research institute. In this role, you'll develop cutting-edge frameworks to assess climate transition risks-going beyond traditional carbon tax models to focus on Scope 3 emissions, supply chain dynamics, consumer behaviour, and emerging technologies.

Your work will directly support financial sector clients, helping them understand and manage climate-related risks and opportunities through science-based tools and insights.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct advanced research on climate transition risks, especially Scope 3 emissions and decolonisation technologies.
  • Develop methodologies that integrate systems thinking and scenario analysis to assess industry and market impacts.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to build practical tools and models for real-world application.
  • Engage with financial institutions to align research with regulatory and market needs.
  • Publish research and represent the institute at conferences and industry events.
  • Stay current on climate policy, technology trends, and regulatory developments.

What We're Looking For

  • PhD in climate science, environmental engineering, economics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Expertise in GHG accounting (especially Scope 3); LCA and supply chain sustainability are a plus.
  • Familiarity with climate risk frameworks (e.g., TCFD, NGFS) is desirable.
  • Strong skills in quantitative analysis and modelling (Python, R).
  • Knowledge of consumer behaviour, market dynamics, and decolonisation technologies.
  • Proven interdisciplinary research experience with real-world impact.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of financial sector climate disclosures and regulations is a plus.

Why Join Us?

  • Work at the intersection of science, policy, and finance.
  • Collaborate with a diverse, mission-driven team.
  • Contribute to meaningful, high-impact climate solutions.
  • Flexible work environment with opportunities for growth.
