Senior Capital Modelling Actuary
Selby Jennings have partnered with a reputable global commercial and specialty insurer to find a Senior Capital Modelling Actuary for their Paris office.
This is a strategic opportunity for a qualified actuary to take ownership of the internal capital model team across European entities. The successful candidate will lead model development, oversee quarterly updates, and deliver high-impact insights to senior stakeholders across underwriting, claims, investments, and risk.
You will act as the primary actuarial contact in Paris, reporting into the Head of Capital located in London, managing model calibration, output reporting, and documentation. The role also involves mentoring junior team members, collaborating with offshore teams, and contributing to regulatory engagements and reviews. With the capital model integrated into the Risk Management Framework, you'll play a key role in shaping risk appetite and embedding model use across the business.
This high-profile position offers visibility across European branches and group-level leadership, with scope to influence strategic decisions and drive innovation in model use.
Role Requirements:
- Qualified actuary with at least two years' experience in capital modelling
- Minimum five years' actuarial experience, ideally within commercial or specialty insurance
- Familiarity with Igloo modelling software preferred
- Exposure to asset-side risks (e.g. investment, treasury, accounting) advantageous
- Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical insights for senior stakeholders
- Experience in regulatory engagement and cross-functional collaboration
- Experience with ACPR strongly preferred
- Leadership capability and interest in mentoring junior team members
- Based in Paris with 2-3 days in office per week
- Must be a French and English speaker
