Senior Associate, Performance Measurement & Attribution

Selby Jennings is supporting a portfolio company of one of the world's largest alternative asset managers that is currently looking to bring on a Senior Associate to join their Performance Measurement & Attribution team. In this seat, you'll be at the forefront of shaping how we evaluate investment success and uncover insights that influence strategic decisions. This role offers the chance to work on complex portfolio analytics, partner with senior leaders, and innovate processes that enhance transparency and performance reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed calculations and analysis of portfolio performance using recognized attribution techniques, including factor-based and duration-driven approaches.
  • Break down and assess key drivers of returns such as interest rate movements, credit spread shifts, sector positioning, and individual security choices.
  • Oversee the accuracy and consistency of performance data sourced from internal systems and external providers.
  • Deliver recurring and on-demand attribution reports for internal teams and client presentations, ensuring clarity and precision.
  • Collaborate closely with portfolio managers to interpret attribution outcomes and provide insights that guide investment strategies.
  • Communicate performance results effectively to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise, translating complex data into actionable narratives.
  • Drive improvements in attribution models and reporting workflows through automation and advanced analytical solutions.
  • Partner with technology teams to implement system enhancements that streamline processes and boost operational efficiency.
  • Uphold rigorous standards for data integrity and quality throughout all performance measurement activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field (Master's or CFA designation preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in performance attribution, preferably within fixed income or real estate investment portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of fixed income, specifically real estate loans and securities (CMBS, RMBS, CMLs).
  • Proficiency in performance attribution software (e.g., FactSet, Bloomberg PORT, Barra, Yield Book).
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Python, R, or SQL a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting complex data to diverse audiences.
