Senior AML Consultant (m/w/d)
The Role
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver internal audit assignments, including the assessment of governance, risk management, and internal control frameworks.
- Evaluate business processes and controls, conduct risk-based reviews, and support regulatory inspection and assurance activities.
- Perform reviews relating to regulatory compliance requirements, with a particular focus on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), sanctions, fraud prevention, and broader financial crime controls.
- Participate in forensic investigations relating to potential instances of fraud, misconduct, financial crime, or regulatory breaches within financial institutions.
- Prepare clear and concise reports, communicate findings to stakeholders, and support the implementation and monitoring of corrective actions.
- Assist in the development of new methodologies, risk assessment approaches, and client solutions within the practice.
- Build strong client relationships and provide practical recommendations tailored to business and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Several years of professional experience within internal audit, compliance, risk management, forensic services, regulatory consulting, or a comparable function in the financial services sector.
- Good understanding of banking and financial services regulations, particularly in relation to AML, sanctions compliance, fraud prevention, and financial crime risk management.
- Familiarity with German and European regulatory frameworks and supervisory expectations applicable to financial institutions.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while effectively managing stakeholders and building trusted client relationships.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Native-level German and strong English language skills are required. Additional languages would be advantageous.
