Senior Actuary - Medicaid

We're partnered with a nationally recognized healthcare advisory firm that's continuing to invest in its government healthcare practice. This is an opportunity for an experienced health actuary to take a leadership role on high-profile Medicaid engagements, influence program and rate-setting decisions, and work directly with state agencies, managed care organizations, and other key stakeholders shaping the future of public healthcare.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead Medicaid-focused actuarial projects from start to finish, partnering directly with clients on some of their most important financial and strategic priorities.
  • Analyze healthcare and financial data to help clients make informed decisions around program funding, reimbursement, rate setting, and overall performance.
  • Work closely with state agencies, health plans, and other healthcare organizations to solve complex business and actuarial challenges.
  • Turn complex analyses into practical recommendations and present your findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Serve as a day-to-day client contact, helping manage project priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Review the work of more junior team members and provide coaching and support as they continue to develop.
  • Play a role in growing client relationships and supporting new business opportunities when they arise.
  • Use a mix of actuarial expertise, data analytics, and technology to deliver high-quality solutions for clients.

What We're Looking For:

  • 10+ years of health actuarial experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience working within Medicaid or other government healthcare programs.
  • Experience managing projects and working directly with clients or key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate findings in a clear, practical way.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines in a consulting or client-service environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
  • ASA or FSA, required

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with state Medicaid agencies, managed care organizations, or healthcare consulting firms.
  • Knowledge of capitation, rate development, risk adjustment, provider reimbursement, or healthcare financing.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior actuaries or leading project teams.

Why This Role?

  • Interesting Medicaid work that's both technical and client-facing.
  • Exposure to a wide range of healthcare challenges instead of working in the same niche every day.
  • The ability to build relationships with clients and have a voice in strategic decisions, not just run analyses behind the scenes.
  • A supportive team environment with plenty of room to grow professionally.
  • Flexibility and career progression without having to sacrifice the type of work you enjoy.
