Senior Actuarial Manager (Pharmacy/Medical Background)

Role Summary

A U.S.-based organization is seeking an experienced quantitative professional to join in a senior leadership role. This position involves managing a team of analytical professionals while providing technical guidance on complex, data-driven work that supports business decision-making.

The role requires a balance of people leadership, applied quantitative judgment, and collaboration across multiple internal stakeholders. Flexible work arrangements are available within the United States. Periodic travel is required.


Primary Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead and support a team of professionals performing analytical and modeling work
  • Handle hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and professional development
  • Establish priorities, manage capacity, and ensure timely delivery of work
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team culture
  • Support ongoing professional qualifications and skills development

Technical Oversight

  • Provide senior-level review and guidance on analytical methodologies and outputs
  • Evaluate assumptions, calculations, and results for consistency and reasonableness
  • Apply quantitative judgment to interpret results and inform stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement of analytical approaches and tools

Data & Analysis Support

  • Advise on appropriate use of large, structured datasets
  • Review findings related to data anomalies, trends, or limitations
  • Help identify risks, dependencies, and downstream impacts of data-related issues
  • Encourage sound data practices and documentation standards

Cross-Functional Engagement

  • Partner with colleagues across the organization on time-sensitive analytical needs
  • Contribute to special initiatives requiring advanced quantitative expertise
  • Develop repeatable tools, templates, and processes to improve efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical field
  • Professional credential in actuarial science (ASA or FSA) or equivalent experience
  • At least 7 years of relevant analytical or actuarial experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct people management experience
  • Strong background working with complex datasets and models
  • Experience using analytical or programming tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R, SAS, or similar)
  • Ability to lead teams and influence outcomes across organizational boundaries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Background

  • Experience working in multi-stakeholder, deadline-driven environments
  • Exposure to regulated or data-intensive industries
  • Familiarity with data controls, review processes, or governance concepts
  • Experience with reporting or visualization tools

Additional Details

  • U.S. work authorization required
  • Limited recurring travel required
