Job Title: Natural Gas Scheduler
Location: Houston, TX
Key Responsibilities
- Nominate, confirm, and manage daily and intra-day natural gas schedules across interstate and Texas intrastate pipelines, including Gulf Coast and Southeast markets
- Coordinate gas flow with pipeline control rooms to ensure operational integrity and timely resolution of scheduling issues
- Monitor pipeline capacity, maintenance, OFOs, and force majeure events; communicate impacts to internal stakeholders
- Manage imbalances, line pack, and park-and-loan activities to optimize gas flow and minimize penalties
- Reconcile scheduled quantities against physical flows, pipeline statements, and settlement data
- Communicate directly with traders, risk, operations, and accounting teams regarding position changes and variances
- Maintain accurate scheduling records and documentation in compliance with NAESB standards
- Support end-of-day, month-end, and cash-out processes, including variance analysis and true-ups
- Assist with onboarding new pipelines, points, and counterparties as business needs evolve
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance scheduling efficiency and risk controls
Pipelines & Market Coverage
- Texas Intrastate pipelines (e.g., Houston-area and regional systems)
- Interstate pipelines serving the Gulf Coast and Southeast U.S.
- Supply, market, storage, and LNG-adjacent points as applicable
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Energy Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of natural gas scheduling experience, preferably with Texas intrastate and Gulf Coast exposure
- Strong knowledge of pipeline nominations, confirmations, and operational flow orders (OFOs)
- Familiarity with NAESB standards and pipeline tariff provisions
- Experience working in fast-paced trading or operations environments
- Proficiency with scheduling systems, EBBs, and spreadsheets (Excel required)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Skills
- Direct experience scheduling across Southeast markets
- Understanding of gas trading, storage, and imbalance management strategies
- Experience working closely with real-time traders or commercial teams
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with external counterparties and pipeline personnel
