Multi-National Corporation Relationship Manager, APAC

Relationship Manager, Multinational Corporations

Cross Sector APAC/ASEAN Coverage

Role Overview

A leading APAC headquartered bank is building out its U.S. Multinational Corporations platform and is seeking a Relationship Manager to be based in New York City. This is a high visibility and strategically important role covering U.S. headquartered multinational corporates with deep operating ties across APAC and ASEAN.

Unlike traditional MNC coverage models that are broken down by industry vertical, this role is intentionally cross sector. The successful candidate will act as the global relationship owner for a broad portfolio of U.S. based multinational clients on behalf of the bank, with responsibility for origination, relationship development, and coordination of product delivery across Asia.

The role comes with significant institutional support, strong senior sponsorship, and close partnership with credit, product, and regional relationship teams. This is a growth role with an emphasis on prospecting, new client acquisition, and expanding the bank's MNC franchise in the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

* Serve as the global relationship manager for a portfolio of U.S. headquartered multinational corporates, covering all sectors rather than a single industry vertical

* Own the overall relationship strategy for assigned MNC clients, coordinating coverage and execution across APAC and ASEAN markets

* Actively prospect and originate new multinational corporate relationships, with a focus on investment grade and Fortune 1000 companies with strong Asia exposure

* Build and expand a diversified MNC client portfolio, with a stated priority on U.S. corporates and diversification beyond the existing book

* Maintain senior level dialogue with corporate treasury, finance, and executive teams, positioning the bank's capabilities across transaction banking, trade finance, FX, and lending

* Drive cross selling opportunities into Asia by working closely with local relationship managers, product partners, and regional leadership teams

* Lead global account planning, including wallet share analysis, revenue growth initiatives, and coordinated client strategy across regions

* Partner closely with trade finance and cash management teams, leveraging these products as core differentiators for Asia focused multinational clients

* Manage the end to end credit process in coordination with a dedicated credit analyst, including structuring, approvals, documentation, and ongoing portfolio monitoring

* Work in close collaboration with senior stakeholders in New York and Asia, including frequent calls and meetings with APAC and ASEAN based teams

* Monitor credit quality, risk exposure, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements

* Represent the bank in client meetings, internal forums, and strategic discussions related to the MNC platform

Candidate Profile

* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline

* 7+ years of experience in multinational corporate banking, transaction banking, or institutional relationship management

* Strong background in trade finance, cash management, or transaction banking strongly preferred

* Experience covering or working closely with APAC and ASEAN markets, with a solid understanding of regional business dynamics

* Demonstrated prospecting mentality with the ability and motivation to build a book of business, not just manage an existing portfolio

* Recognized network of multinational corporate contacts, while understanding this role aligns with a VP to junior Director level of seniority

* Hands on experience working with credit partners and owning deal execution and portfolio management responsibilities

* Comfort operating in a high responsibility, high bandwidth role that spans multiple sectors and geographies

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across time zones and complex organizations

* Background primarily focused on DCM, ECM, or M&A would not be a strong fit given the U.S. product focus of this platform

What Makes This Role Unique

* Cross sector coverage with global relationship ownership for all assigned U.S. MNC names

* High visibility role with direct impact on the bank's U.S. MNC growth strategy

* Significant internal support, including dedicated credit resources and close partnership with senior leadership

* Strong emphasis on prospecting and franchise build out, not passive portfolio management

* Heavy interaction with Asia based teams and meaningful cross border deal flow

* Opportunity to shape and grow a rapidly expanding multinational corporate platform
