I'm working with a government health consulting organization that supports large, complex Medicaid programs across multiple states. They're looking to bring on an experienced Actuarial Manager to take ownership of client work, lead project teams, and play a key role in shaping Medicaid program strategy.
This is a leadership‑oriented role with a strong mix of technical actuarial work, client interaction, and team development.
What you'll be responsible for
- Overseeing Medicaid actuarial engagements from start to finish, including rate development, financial analysis, and overall project execution
- Acting as a trusted point of contact for clients, managing expectations, timelines, and deliverables
- Reviewing actuarial models, assumptions, and analyses to ensure results are sound and defensible
- Developing clear, well‑structured materials that explain results and recommendations to non‑technical audiences
- Coaching and reviewing the work of junior actuaries and analysts
- Supporting practice growth by identifying follow‑on work and contributing to proposals and client expansions
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of health actuarial experience, with meaningful leadership experience in Medicaid
- ASA or FSA, credentials
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and teams in a fast‑paced consulting environment
Experience that's a strong plus
- Medicaid work spanning multiple states, programs, or payer types
- Prior actuarial consulting background
- Experience leading teams or large, high‑visibility engagements
- Exposure to capitated rate development or health plan financial analysis
