Our client, an East Coast-based Private Credit firm with a differentiated model and long-standing fee structure, is seeking a Managing Director to lead origination, execution, and portfolio management efforts across the broader West Coast.

This is a nimble, entrepreneurial direct lending shop with a strong track record of providing flexible capital solutions to founder-led and sponsor-backed businesses. The firm operates more like a private equity model-expecting MDs to source, underwrite, execute, and actively manage investments, including board participation. Their legacy fee structure ensures meaningful upside for investors who build and manage high-performing portfolios.
Role Overview:
As Managing Director, you'll be responsible for building and owning a portfolio of 7-8 high-quality sponsor-backed deals in the lower middle market. This is a cradle-to-grave role-covering origination, underwriting, structuring, and portfolio oversight. You'll work closely with sponsors, management teams, and internal stakeholders to drive value and build a regional presence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Originate new investment opportunities through sponsor and intermediary relationships
- Lead underwriting, diligence, and structuring of debt transactions
- Sit on portfolio company boards and drive value creation strategies
- Build and scale a regional portfolio with full P&L ownership
- Represent the firm externally and contribute to brand-building in the market
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 10+ years of experience in private credit, mezzanine, or SBIC-backed investing
- Demonstrated ability to both originate and underwrite deals independently
- Strong operational and board-level experience preferred
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build and grow a regional franchise
- Based in the Midwest/West Coast or open to relocating (Seattle, LA, SF, Chicago, etc.)
