Role overview:

As Legal Counsel for the customer team, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the bank’s reputation by ensuring all consumer banking activities are compliant with relevant laws and regulations. Your expertise will guide the bank in addressing customer complaints, facilitating remediation, and rebuilding trust during challenging situations. This position calls for a strategic mindset and the ability to manage complex legal issues while protecting both the consumer and the bank.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and provide strategic support in enhancing customer experiences, focusing on complex complaints and dispute resolution.
  • Advise on how to effectively apply Consumer Duty Principles to service intricate client needs and improve consumer outcomes.
  • Develop and implement decisive strategies to resolve contentious complaints, maintaining the bank’s reputation and customer trust.
  • Proactively identify emerging legal and regulatory risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including DI SP and remediation activities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to navigate legal challenges and contribute to continuous improvement of customer service operations.

Ideal candidate:

  • Solicitor, barrister, or legal executive qualification.
  • Extensive experience in consumer duty, complaints management, and remediation.
  • Proven track record in managing legal claims and resolving complex issues across diverse banking products and services.
  • Strong understanding of risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with multiple teams.
