Investment Banking Managing Director | Consumer
Selby Jennings is seeking Investment Banking Managing Directors focused on Consumer M&A for a bespoke global boutique, and full-service middle market Investment Bank. These groups are both in growth mode, looking to take advantage of local and foreign markets to enhance their current coverage across Consumer M&A to sell companies to strategics and private equity clients.
Ideally candidates are current Investment Banking Managing Directors with a focus on Consumer CPG, Food & Beverage, Branded goods, etc., and capable of bringing a book of business to these entpreneurial teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Origination & Client Development
- Lead business development efforts by identifying and cultivating relationships with C-suite executives, private equity firms, and strategic buyers.
- Develop and pitch tailored M&A strategies to clients in the consumer sector.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences and networking events.
Deal Execution
- Oversee all aspects of M&A transactions from initial pitch through closing.
- Lead due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and documentation processes.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including legal, accounting, and regulatory advisors.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and develop junior bankers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight to deal teams.
- Contribute to recruiting and talent development initiatives.
Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with senior leadership to shape the firm's consumer M&A strategy.
- Monitor market trends and provide insights to inform client strategies and firm positioning.
- Drive innovation in deal structuring and client solutions.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in investment banking with a strong focus on M&A in the consumer sector.
- Proven track record of originating and executing high-profile M&A transactions.
- Deep network of industry contacts and strong client relationship management skills.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation expertise.
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree from a top-tier institution preferred.
- FINRA Series 79 and 63 licenses (or ability to obtain promptly).
