Investment Banking Associate - Industrials - M&A
Investment Banking Associate - Industrials (Chemicals & Specialty Materials) | New York, NY
About the Opportunity I'm working with an elite boutique investment bank looking to add an Associate to their Industrials group in New York. The team is highly regarded for its M&A advisory work across the chemicals and specialty materials sectors, advising both public and private companies, as well as financial sponsors, on sell-side and buy-side transactions. This is a great opportunity to join a lean, deal-intensive platform with significant senior-level access and clear paths to career growth.
Responsibilities
- Play an active role in M&A deal execution across chemicals and specialty materials, from early-stage marketing through closing.
- Build and maintain financial models, including valuation analyses, accretion/dilution, and merger consequences analyses.
- Draft and refine confidential information memoranda (CIMs), management presentations, and other marketing materials.
- Coordinate due diligence processes and manage virtual data rooms.
- Support senior bankers in client and buyer/seller communications, occasionally serving as a point of contact on live deals.
- Mentor and provide guidance to Analysts staffed on the same deal teams.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of Investment Banking experience, with a strong preference for direct M&A deal experience (industrials, chemicals, or specialty materials exposure is a plus but not required).
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with senior bankers and clients.
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, lean deal team environment.
- Series 79 and 63 (or willingness to obtain).
Why This Team
- Access to senior bankers and direct deal exposure from day one - this isn't a large platform where Associates get lost in the shuffle.
- A specialized, sector-focused practice with strong deal flow across chemicals and specialty materials.
- Collegial, collaborative culture with a genuine focus on long-term career development.
- Competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience.
