Our client, a highly respected and long‑standing middle‑market investment bank, is seeking a strong Investment Banking Associate to join their Depositories & Specialty Finance M&A team based in Atlanta. This group is widely recognized for its deep sector expertise, strong transaction flow, and collaborative culture. The team advises banks, credit unions, specialty finance platforms, and financial services investors on M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory mandates.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an Associate who wants to work directly with senior bankers, gain hands‑on deal execution experience, and build long-term career equity in one of the industry's strongest depositories advisory franchises.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the execution of live M&A and strategic advisory transactions
- Build detailed financial models including valuation, merger modeling, and scenario analyses
- Prepare client deliverables such as pitch materials, CIMs, management presentations, and board materials
- Conduct sector-specific research on banks, credit unions, specialty lenders, and broader financial institutions
- Manage day‑to‑day deal processes, liaise with clients, attorneys, accountants, and other transaction stakeholders
- Mentor and guide analysts on financial modeling and workstreams
Qualifications:
Required Core Qualifications:
- 2-4+ years of investment banking experience (preferably at the Analyst or Associate level)
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills
- Demonstrated track record supporting sell‑side and/or buy‑side M&A execution
- Excellent communication, presentation, and project management abilities
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in Depositories, Credit Unions, Specialty Finance, or Financial Institutions Group (FIG) coverage
- Familiarity with bank regulatory frameworks, balance sheet dynamics, and sector‑specific valuation drivers
