Role overview

Micro‑cap companies (public businesses with a market capitalization of roughly US$50-300 million) and mid‑cap companies (around US$2 - 10 billion market cap) often have limited research coverage and unique capital‑structure needs. The junior coverage banker supports senior colleagues in advising these high‑growth issuers on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt offerings and other strategic transactions. Working closely with senior bankers, you'll build foundational skills in financial analysis, valuation, and client communication while helping deliver tailored solutions to micro‑ and mid‑cap clients.

Responsibilities

  • Transaction execution support
    • Assist in due‑diligence processes, document preparation and negotiations for M&A and capital‑markets deals .
    • Build and refine complex financial models; complete valuation analyses using DCF, trading and transaction comparables and leveraged‑buyout (LBO) techniques .
    • Draft pitch books, management presentations, board materials, internal memoranda and other presentation materials for use in M&A and capital‑markets transactions .
    • Liaise with product and sector teams, clients and external advisers (accountants, lawyers) to keep transactions moving .
  • Market and company research
    • Research micro‑ and mid‑cap companies and industries; keep abreast of key market developments and maintain knowledge of the target client base and relevant market dynamics .
    • Maintain comparable‑company databases, transaction precedent lists and industry league tables; monitor investor sentiment and share‑price performance.
    • Work with senior bankers to prepare strategic analysis for client meetings, including market overviews, peer benchmarking and capital‑structure assessments.
  • Client coverage support
    • Participate in client calls, meetings and roadshows with senior bankers; take notes, prepare follow‑up materials and ensure action items are addressed.
    • Help organize deal and non‑deal roadshows, conference calls and headquarters visits for institutional investors and company management .
  • Internal collaboration and development
    • Coordinate with risk, legal, compliance, research and sales teams to gather information and ensure materials meet regulatory and internal guidelines.
    • Contribute to graduate recruiting efforts and participate in internal training sessions to build skills in valuation, modeling and transaction execution .

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of front‑office experience in investment banking or a related finance role .
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field ; coursework or internships focused on corporate finance and capital markets preferred.
  • Strong accounting, financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills with attention to detail .
  • Understanding of transaction cycles and process steps; execution‑oriented mindset .
  • Impeccable communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with senior professionals, clients and other stakeholders .
  • Motivated, self‑starting work ethic; ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
